French Creek is a great park for those living (or driving) between Philadelphia and Harrisburg. It boasts a couple of lakes, fishing, disc golf, and tons of trails for hikers, bikers, and equestrians. This hike started at a parking lot not too far from the park office (see map), took the blue-blazed Boone Trail to the orange-blazed Six Penny Trail to the yellow-blazed Horseshoe Trail. About 11.5 miles in length with a 1200 foot elevation gain. Took us almost 5.5 hours and that was with at least two people who had never hiked before!

Directions: the park is located between the Morgantown and Downingtown exits of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. From the Morgantown exit, take Route 10 south (towards Morgantown) for a mile then hang a left at the light (T intersection) onto Route 23 east. Follow that for a little over 5 miles and make a left on Route 345 north. In about 2.5 miles you'll see a sign for French Creek. Turn left onto South Entrance Road. The road will end at a T intersection. Make a right onto Park Road. Just past the first road on the right is the park office. Park there. From the Downingtown exit, take Route 100 North for 9 miles to Route 23, make a left (west) on 23 and take that 6 miles to Route 345. Turn right (north) on 345 and follow the park directions above.
