Canyoneering is something I tried for the first time in the days after September 11. A friend who was supposed to join me for a tour through southern Utah couldn't make it. Since I had already been to most of the places we had discussed, I decided to try something different. I stopped by Zion Adventure Company to see if they had anything going on, and fortunately someone else had the same thing happen to him so we joined up for a class together. Our guide, Jonathan Zamballa, took us up North Kolob Terrace to a small slot canyon where I learned the basics and the other guy played.

This year, Richard wanted to do this, so here we are!
